DESCRIPTION

Venue 252 is a state-of-the-art urban event space in Eugene, and we are seeking a Full-Time Sous Chef to join our team! The Venue is a modern structure with a forward thinking food experience that serves intimate parties and large scale events. This is a new and exciting opportunity to join our growing team! DUTIES

As a Sous Chef, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • ServSafe certificate and/or food handler's card
  • Common knowledge of how a fast paced kitchen functions and operates
  • Can guide, train, and oversee other kitchen and FOH staff
  • Familiar with standard stovetops, ovens, mixers, broilers, fryers, heating elements
  • Understands the basic language of food
  • Writing recipes, methods and knows basic culinary math
  • Knows standard sauces, vinaigrettes, butchery, cooking techniques and can handle a knife
  • Can identify products and understands how to care and store products
  • Has experience in ordering and receiving fresh goods, shelf stable items and paper goods
  • Has an awareness of multi-faceted projects and their completion
  • Assists the chef with developing new food items and how they are integrated into the kitchen
  • Assists in the collaboration of designing seasonal menus and off-season menus for special functions
  • Maintain positive relations with customers, vendors and employees

Catering experience is preferred, but not required. Having large party functions, special events, as well as intimate dining experiences is a plus. Applicants should be available any shift including weekends. You must be 18 years or older. A driven individual with a devotion to the culinary challenges and a good personality, who can pay attention to detail, will thrive in this environment.
